Cranberry Chutney

Put that can of cranberry sauce down and try this instead. Even if you don't like cranberry sauce or raisins, you may just want to eat this by the spoonful. It has been described to me as Christmas on a spoon and I can't disagree. I did can this recipe in my video below but it is NOT an approved canning recipe so proceed with caution.

Yields1 Serving
 2 cups orange juice
 1 ½ cups brown sugar
 2 12 oz packages cranberries
2 cups apples - peeled, cored and diced
 ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
 1 cup raisins
 1 tsp ground cinnamon
 ½ tsp ground ginger
 ½ tsp ground allspice
 ¼ tsp ground cloves
1

In a medium saucepan combine the juice and sugar. Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat.

2

Add the cranberries, apples, cider vinegar, raisins and spices. Bring to a boil, then simmer gently for 10 minutes stirring often.

3

Pour mixture into a mixing bowl. Place plastic wrap directly on the surface of the sauce. Cool to room temperature and serve or cover and refrigerate.
